The Mahaska County Solid Waste Management Commission is responsible for seeking, initiating and implementing a plan or plans for development of an acceptable solid waste collection system and disposal facility that will meet or exceed existing rules and regulations for solid waste disposal established by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The duties of the Mahaska County Solid Waste Management Commission are included in a 28E Agreement executed by the participating entities.
Mahaska County Solid Waste Management Commission members are appointed once a year at the second city council meeting in November.
