Project Description:
  • This project involves the rehabilitation of South 7th Street from 6th Avenue to 9th Avenue.  The work will be completed in three phases: sanitary sewer replacement, concrete repairs, and an asphalt mill and overlay.  
  • The 1st phase, sanitary sewer replacement, will take place at 9th Avenue. These repairs are currently taking place and will end in June of 2017.
  • The 2nd phase will consist of concrete repairs.  These repairs include new concrete curb and gutter, street pavement, ADA sidewalk and ramps, and alley and driveway approach improvements. This phase is expected to begin the week of June 26th and last 40 working days.
  • The 3rd phase is an asphalt mill and overlay. This phase is expected to start any time after the concrete work is finished with a late start date of October 16th.  The asphalt overlay is expected to last 5 working days.

Project Benefits:
This project will improve stormwater drainage along South 7th Street and provide a safer and more durable pavement surface for vehicles.  Pedestrians will benefit from updated ADA accessible sidewalk ramps, and the sanitary sewer main will be more reliable and efficient after replacement.


Project Status:
  • Hol Drainage began sanitary sewer replacement work at the intersection of South 7th Street and 9th Avenue East on June 5.  Construction on this phase is expected to be completed by June 23.    
  • DC Concrete & Construction LLC was awarded the concrete portion of this project on April 17, 2017 for $152,132.50 with a total contingency of $7,500.00.  Construction on this phase is anticipated to begin the week of June 26 and last a total of 40 working days (2-3 months).  
  • Norris Asphalt Paving Co. was awarded the asphalt portion of this project on May 15, 2017 for $95,535.00 with a total contingency of $9,500.00.  Construction on this phase is anticipated to begin after the concrete work is finished and before October 16.  The asphalt overlay should require a total of 5 working days.

Estimated Project Cost:
Sewer Replacement:                        $50,000.00 (estimated)
Concrete Rehabilitation:                  $159,635.50 ($152,132.50 + $7,500.00 contingency)
Asphalt Pavement Rehabilitation:     $105,035.00 (95,535.00 + $9,500.00 contingency)
Traffic Control:                                  $13,025.00
Total Estimated Project Cost:         $327,695.50
